WildHearts Inverness Santa Run, Sunday 4th December 2011
The streets of Inverness are set to be filled with early festive cheer this December as hundreds of Santas make a pre-Christmas visit to the city in a bid to raise funds for charity. The fifth annual WildHearts Inverness Santa Run – a five kilometre run through the city – will take place on Sunday, December 4th, as part of the Inverness Winter Festival.
The festive fun run will kick off at 1pm from Inverness Leisure, with participants making their way around the city’s beautiful riverside, passing underneath the iconic Castle, and through the Ness Islands. Participants of any age and athletic ability are invited to run, jog or walk around the route with friends and family or as part of an office team, earning themselves the right to enjoy a guilt-free Christmas pudding!
The Santa Run is organised by WildHearts, a local charity that provides microloans and business training to help people in the developing world work their own way out of poverty, giving them a hand up and not a hand out. Funds raised will be re-lent to people living in poverty for years to come, creating a lasting legacy from the event.
The entry fee for the event – which includes a Santa suit to make sure all participants look the part, a medal and a goody bag – is £15 for adults and £10 for under 13s.
