Christmas Lights Switch On

The Countdown to Christmas will underway in Inverness on Sunday November 20 as hundreds of families will gathere outside of the Town House to enjoy the celebration to mark the switching on of the Highland Capital’s Christmas Lights by Provost Jimmy Gray and Santa Claus.

This year’s show will once again contain an enjoyable mixture of Christmas Carols and Traditional Scottish music from 5.30pm against the backdrop of a spectacular projection show by Arts in Motion which will bring the Town House to life with animations just in time for the arrival of Santa Claus.

As usual of the highlights of the night will be being the selection of 24 local charities and community groups to receive £100 each. To enter the Festival’s Advent Calendar Prize Draw all you have to do is email

We are hoping that members of the cast of this year’s Eden Court Theatre “Cinderella” will be joining us if they can escape the clutches of the Ugly Sisters.

Following the switching on of the Christmas Lights, Santa and the Provost will lead the crowd down Church Street to the Old High Church for our traditional Children’s Christmas Carol Concert “Ding Dong Merrily Old High” which will bring the evening to a close.
